Residents of the west-end area bounded by Dundas St. W. and Lansdowne Ave. south of Dupont St. have voted to call their neighbourhood the “Junction Triangle.”
The vote result was announced Tuesday morning after a campaign put in motion by a group called “Fuzzy Boundaries,” which was named for the vague outlines of the area in question.
Though the new name is unofficial, Fuzzy Boundaries head Kevin Putnam hopes it will provide a sense of identity, pulling the community together and attracting businesses.
Out of approximately 280 suggestions, 10 names were shortlisted by the community, including Perth Park, which came in second, and Railtown.
Putnam says that about 46% of people voted for Junction Triangle.
About 773 people voted, 100 of whom live outside of the neighborhood.
